New Maldives President wants India out

Newly elected Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has asked Indian troops in the country to leave, putting in place an election promise. The move signals a clear anti-India tilt in the new Maldivian government. Though not laid down yet, there have been signs of Muizzu's warm ties with China. Increasing Chinese influence among countries in the Indian Ocean Region has already raised alarm bells in New Delhi.
