Operator Advised to Restrict Ops at Four Locations
DP World Australia, a ports operator in the country, faced a cybersecurity breach on Nov 10 and was forced to suspend its operations at ports in many states.
An investigation has been launched into the incident. Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil said that authorities were working with DP World Australia ‘to understand the impacts’, of the breach.
DP World Australia was advised to restrict access to port operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle as the investigation was going on.
This cybersecurity breach comes just a day after Melbourne-based cryptocurrency exchange CoinSpot, which is Australia’s largest, was hacked. Cybersecurity experts have said that inadequate safeguards and the stockpiling of sensitive customer information have made Australia a lucrative target for hacking.
