K-pop sensation BTS military service confirmed! Here's everything you need to know

Over the years, BTS boys and their military service have been one of the most discussed topics. However, putting a full stop to all the raging debate, the k-pop boy band's management company has confirmed that they will perform military service for their nation. 

As BTS boys are set to join the army, here we take a look at what exactly South Korean military law says, who will be the first boy to enlist and when they will come back. 

 

 

BTS' Proof out now

BTS boy's mandatory military service has been a cause of concern for the ARMY and the South Korean government for a year now. And, now it has been confirmed that the boys will perform their service.

"BIGHIT MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfil their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030, and as each individual embarks on solo endeavours, it’s the perfect time and the members of BTS are honoured to serve," the music company shared in the statement.

A little history

Last year, South Korea’s parliament passed a bill that allowed BTS boys to postpone their mandatory military service to age 30. The special amendment to the Military Service Act was done for BTS.

According to South Korean mandatory military service law, all men between the age of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the country’s military for at least 20 months. And like all men, BTS members are no different.

BTS Jin

BTS member Jin will turn 30 this year in December and he will be the first one to enrol in the army. The rest of the boys will join the military when they are asked. 

''Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans. Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment." The statement reads, 

Apart from him, Suga is also 28 years old, while J-Hope is 27. RM is 27 years old whereas V and Jimin are 26 years old. Jungkook is only 24.

The Army is heartbroken but proud! Today, K-pop sensation BTS's management company has confirmed that the seven boys will soon perform their mandatory military service.
 
BTS's military service has been a topic of discussion for a while now. Time and again, netizens and the BTS Army have shared their views on the topic. Some users are in support while others just can't imagine their world without K-pop members. Soon after the announcement, BTS' ARMY was quick to share their reaction on social media sites which led to hashtags like 'We Love you BTS', 'Forever With BTS' trend.

Sharing a photo of BTS, one user wrote, "I'm feeling sad but I'm proud of you guys.''

Another wrote, ''No matter what, no matter how long. Every step of the way, ARMY will be here for BTS.''
