Emmett Shear co-founded Twitch, a well-known video game streaming platform acquired by Amazon in 2014. Shear is set to assume the role of CEO, succeeding Mira Murati, who publicly aligned with Altman. .
In February of this year, Shear resigned from his position as CEO of Twitch and was appointed a part-time advisor to Y Combinator, a San Francisco-based startup, according to the Washington Post.
Shear, born in 1983, obtained his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Yale University in 2005.
He dedicated 16 years to developing live video for the internet, commencing with Justin.tv, which subsequently transformed into Twitch. Shear resides in San Francisco with his family.
Y Combinator is the same company that Altman himself was head of from 2014 to 2019. He re-entered OpenAI's office on Monday (Nov 20) morning, saying that it would be the 'first and last' time he wore a guest badge.
