Heavy Snowfall Paralyses Southern Germany, Halts Air, Rail Traffic

Bavaria Hit by Heavy Snowfall 

The southern state of Bavaria has been hit by an overnight heavy snowfall, which has left thousands of travellers stranded. 

Flights, Long-Distance Trains Cancelled 

The heavy snowfall prompted an all-day cancellation of flights and long-distance trains outside of Bavaria’s capital city of Munich. 

Thousands Face Power Cuts 

Utility company Bayernwerk said that downed trees (due to snowfall) left thousands of people without power across Bavaria. 

Bundesliga Match Cancelled 

A Bundesliga (German football) match between Bayern Munich and Union Berlin was also postponed due to the heavy snowfall.
